Garden Diary 2008: Cutting Back the Brush
I spent a little time in the back yard cutting back the brush that has taken over behind our hill. It was actually like that when we bought the place, but I decided to wait ’til wintertime to cut it back. The reason was becasue all the leaves and most of the insects would be gone during the cold months.
I cut several trees almost all the way to the ground. The biggest problem back there is a vine that has infested most of the trees. This is going to be the hardest thing to get out of there.
Now I have a whole mess of limbs to make my tomato trellus out of. I probably have more than I know what to do with. Should be fun. I just have to go out and buy some twine to tie the limbs together with.
Today I was also thinking that the limbs might make a decent barrier for the sides of the growbox. I don’t know if I can make that happen. I will keep you updated.
