Why? There are Lots of Reasons.
Millions are Cut Down Every Year - It frustrates me that companies go in to an area and cut down trees without any intention to replant the trees they just killed. I know that Wood is important to our economy and the building of our homes, but when they go in and clear-cut trees without any intention to re-grow what they have just cut down, I just think it is wrong.
They Provide Oxygen - The Oxygen that we breathe on a daily basis is created by the trees and every other green plant. We need to make sure that there are plenty of them making oxygen for us to breathe, otherwise, we may just die.
They Are Pretty- Have you ever looked at a tree. Look at how it grows. Look how it continues to stretch out towards the sun. They grow new leaves while shedding old ones. They hibernate in the winter and become new in the spring. Trees are an amazing thing to watch.
They Provide Us and Animals with Food to Eat - Without Trees we wouldn’t have the many fruits that we eat. Plant a fruit tree in your back yard. You will enjoy fruit from it all year long.
You can Memorialize Someone with a Tree- I have seen people plant trees to remember someone close to them who has died. The tree will grow for many years longer than anyone else. It is a nice memorial.
They are Fun to Climb- Have you ever climbed a tree as a kid. Take an hour or two one Saturday, find a good tree (of course something that is going to hold your weight and will not be extremely difficult to climb) and make you way up to a decent height. Enjoy a little time alone up there and take in all that nature has to offer.
They Provide a lot of Shade - Trees a natures way to protect you from a sunburn. They are a great place t sit down next to and enjoy a good book. They allow smaller plants the ability to get sun and grow without getting overheated.
They Slow Down the Wind - imagine how the wind blows off the ocean. It blows without stopping. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to keep things standing upright because of the wind. Trees slow that wind down. They make it easier to enjoy a nice breeze.
They are an Amazing Testament to Nature- Have you ever just watched the way a tree grows? It grows in no particular pattern. The limbs look for the easiest way to grow towards the sun. They react the the changing temperatures and the different seasons.
It is Satisfying to Grow a Tree from a Seed- Have you ever taken the time to pick up a seed, stick it in some soil and make sure that it has enough water and sun to grow into something gigantic? It is something that satisfies the heart. There is nothing like nurturing a living thing. I guess it is a lot like raising a child without all the backtalk.
Here are 100 more things you should do before you die.
