Day 008.1: Junis Continues to Fight

The puncture had not caught Junis off guard. He knew that he was in a war and that death was a very real thing. He never went into battle without coming to grips with the fact that he may not walk away from the fight alive. He made sure that everything was in order and that he was right with everyone he cared about.

This knowledge was critical in battle. Because he had no fear of death, he also had no fear of the pain that came with any kind of mortal wound. This puncture to his lungs was definitely a deadly blow, but he was not going to let that pain get in the way of him fighting to the very last moment.

This disregard of the pain of not being able to breath was so strong that Junis was able to take out another fifteen nasty beasts before he fell to the ground of exhaustion. Junis smiled as he fell to the ground. He knew that he had done all that he could do for the cause. He was not able to reach the STEEL overlord, Verlor, but he was able to take out many more of the creatures making it more likely that one of his kin, might be able to destroy him.

Junis continued to fight on his knees. He blocked blow after blow, severing knees and groins as the creatures came after him. Body after body began to pile up around him. The new attackers finally had to climb over a mountain of their dead comrades to get to Junis, just to meet the same fate.

Junis’ strength continued to swindle ‘til an enemy sword finly found its way through his defenses. This time it pierced his heart. There was no going back now. He was going to die. He was going to leave the world with less evil than what was in it when he was born. That was something to be proud of.
