Day 009.1: Through Dragon Scales
“Oh…. Junis… This doesn’t look too good” Athvor looked at his friend’s face. He was obviously in pain. He was loosing blood fast and there was no sign that he was going to clot in time to save his life. Cauterizing the wounds himself, came to Athvor’s mind, but then Junis would probably die of third and fourth degree burns (that is if there was such a thing as a fourth degree burn).
Junis looked up at Athvor. He really could not talk. He motioned Athvor with his eyes to move closer to him. He obviously wanted to share something with the dragon. Athvor took another cautious look around, making sure that his fire barrier was holding. He didn’t want to be attacked while having a personal moment with his friend. All the creatures were standing at the edge of the flames streaming and making their battle cries. Every once in a while one of them would get to close to the flames and would start running around, flames spreading all over his body.
Athvor grinned as he turned back towards his friend. He brought his head within inches of Junis’. “My friend…” Athvor said.
Junis lifted his hand and found the dragon scales with his fingertips. He ran his fingers along Athvor’s neck, reaching down towards his chest. When he was sure he had found the right position, he balled his hand into a fist and positioned his knuckles against the scales.
Athvor didn’t have but a moment to look down at what his friend was doing. All he knew was that his mentor of 34 years was dying and there was nothing he could do about it. Just as that thought was passing through his mind, Junis’ STEEL formed around his knuckles and jutted out, puncturing the dragons skin, through his scales and muscle and between a couple of ribs, strait into his heart.
