Day 13: Waking up to a Surprise

The blackness came several moments before Athvor hit the canopy. He was not awake to feel the pain that came along with his injuries. He hit the ground with a thud, sending a shockwave through the trees. Animals ran and birds flew away. The bushes he fell on flattened to nearly nothing. The whole forest went silent for several minutes as the animals waited to see what was going to happen next. When nothing did happen, they began to chirp again.

Everything ached when he came to. He didn’t dare move. He could feel the pain waiting to grab his nerves at his muscles first twitch. He opened his eyes ever so slightly. Part of it was because of the sunlight that shone through the broken trees above him and part of it was him still trying to break loose the unconsciousness that was holding onto him.

Before long, he felt something tickling his leg. He tried to look down but moving his head was out of the question. That didn’t matter though. The little feet were making their way up his thigh, over his back to the top of his head. It stepped between his eyebrows and leaned over to look into his eyes.
