Day 021: They Fly and Eat
Athvor Grunted, not really satisfied with Eeno’s logic. He gave a thrust against the ground with his muscular hind legs. His wing opened and he took off into the sky. Knowing it was time to move on, Eeno followed, pumping his wings hard trying to keep up.
Athvor slowed his pace a bit not looking back. He knew that it was going to be hard for Eeno to keep up. He could have kept up for a little while, but flying at that speed for a long time was enough to wear out any dragon. Athvor was fortunate to be a very large species and it took very little effort on his part to stay in the sky.
The one thing it did take was a lot of calories. Not eating is several days was finally taking its toll on both of them. They just needed to find something quick and easy. They were both keen hunters. They had been in charge of their own meals for most of their lives and this day was no different.
Athvor searched the forest below for any kind of movement. It wasn’t long before he folded his wings and took a dive for the ground. Eeno watched as he tore through the trees, disappearing for several minutes. When he did reappear, he clutched a large four legged mammal in his talons. The beast was no longer recognizable. Athvor had obviously gorged himself in the flesh. He just brought it with him to share with his friend.
“White meat or dark meat?” he asked as he joined Eeno in their flight north.
Eeno smiled at the light hearted joke, “Dark if you don’t mind.”
Athvor ripped a hind leg off the dead creature and tossed it towards Eeno. This was plenty of meat for him, as he was only a third the size of the creature anyway. Together they flew and ate not really knowing where they were going or what they were going to do next.
