Day 022: Flight Continued

Athvor had dropped what was left of the carcus into an open field. A flock of buzzards had been following them for a rather long distance. They were following the smell of fresh meat and it was obvious that they were going to continue to follow them until they got it. Athvor had eaten his fill anyway, so he didn’t feel so bad about letting the buzzards have what was left; that was if they could get to it before the field dogs did.

It was obvious after a while that Eeno was extremely tired. He was just too proud to ask for a ride. Athvor could see it in his eyes. There was exhaustion, a glazed look about him. Athvor flew down and under his friend. He startled him a bit when he lightly brought his back into contact with Eeno’s talons. After realizing his friend was trying to help, Eeno thankfully took the silent offer and landed onto Athvors back. He folded his wings and laid his head in the small crevasse between the great muscles that were used to flap Athvor’s wings. Within moments Eeno was asleep.

Athvor continued to fly, looking for any signs of the creatures who took part in killing his friends and people he considered to be family. There was a definite pat that had been torn through the forest. Some of it had started to grow back but the trail was unmistakable. Athvor continued to follow this trail till he came across a very sad sight; a village; a village burned to the ground.
