Day 029: Her Talents

“Let see it.” Athvor gave her a smirk. He settled down like an audience before her. He was big enough. He could have take up a decent sized ampatheater by himself.

She looked back up at him again. He smiled gently and she couldn’t help but return the gesture. She lifted one of the knives, the sun glimmering off the metal as well as the thin scales that ran along the back of her hand. She stared at the metal with a sort of passion. There was something in her eyes. A slight flicker in color passed around her pupils then flames shot up from the base of her palm and surrounded the blade.

Athvor watched with interest. “Intriguing. Have you always been able to do this?”

“My mother had the same… uhhh… talent. Her mother was a dragon from the north. She taught me at a young age… especially when I started to set things on fire when I threw tantrums as a toddler. There was a story about how I burned down half the village as a child. They were forced to leave… to find a new place to live. Mom was killed years ago. I’m not really sure how. Father wouldn’t talk about it.” She stopped talking. There was something wrong.

“What… What happened?”

“Nothing… I just… I don’t know where he is.” She rubbed her face trying to keep the tears from returning. “He disappeared right before those creatures arrived.”
