Day 030: Nynn’s Dad
“He just disappeared?” Athvor asked in pure curiosity. He scratched the back of his ear with a hind talon. Nynn smiled at this sight. He looked like an oversized dog with scales and wings.
“I don’t know. He… he was acting kind of strange for a few days before the attack. If I didn’t know better, I would think he was the reason that we were attacked.”
“Why would you say that?”
“Well…” She sat down on a stone next to Athvor. It was charred black, but the temperature had nearly returned to normal. She enjoyed the slight heat against her thighs. “He always seemed to be thinking about something. I had to call him numerous times before I could get his attention. Then there was the night he slipped out of the house, trying not to be heard. I heard him though. He has heavy feet. I could feel him moving through the house, even if I didn’t hear a sound.”
“Where do you think he went?” Athvor was full of questions and was wondering if he was pushing it. She answered his question without a stutter this time.
“I’m not sure, but he took several weapons with him. He was gone for almost the entire night. He tried to sneak back in without allowing me to hear him. I was awake though. My mind raced with reasons he would sneak out without telling me anything about it. I couldn’t sleep. When I came out for breakfast, I noticed the bundle of blades that had been leaning in the corner was not gone. He had not returned with them.”
