Day 031.1: How Many Did You Kill?

“I was there” Athvor lowered his head remembering the last few days.

“You fought in that war?” Nynn was surprised. She knew this dragon was large and most likely more powerful than one hundred of those evil creatures, but it never crossed her mind that Dragons would fight in a war. “W… What was it like?”

“Well…” He grinned a bit at her excitement. He never understood young people’s fascination with violence and war. “It was a war… Many people died… including friends.”

There was a pause as Athvor relived events in his mind. Nynn could see the pain in his face. “I… I’m sorry. I didn’t know.”

“Of course you didn’t. We’ve just met. Fact is, he died gloriously. He fought like a god and died like a hero. It was an honor to serve with him.”

“How many did you kill?”

“Didn’t keep count. Problem is… dragon fire is rather contagious. If one person touches someone else when on fire from a dragon attack, that person begins to burn. The fire is nearly impossible to put out. So I figure I killed many more than I actually saw die.”

The picture of a wave of fire appeared in Nynn’s mind. It was almost as clear as if she was actually there.
