Day 032: Hunting
It didn’t take long for Athvor to spot dinner. It never did. He was an expert when it came to hunting. He had to be. They was the only way he would ever be able to get enough to eat. Junis had never been in the position to be able to buy 30 silvers worth of food everyday. That kind of money would feed a man Junis’ size for two or three weeks.
Part of being a dragon is being blessed with the eyes of a hawk. In some ways his eyes were actually better than a hawk’s. There were colors that Athvor could see that most any other creature could not see. He could see a faint hint of gasses in the air. This was great because he would be able to see the gasses that would mix well with his dragon fire or gasses that might actually put the fire out. It also allowed him to see changes around him that might be caused by an enemy or two.
This particular day he was looking in movement below him in the trees. Animals will do one of two things when they see or hear a predator of Athvor’s size. They either become extremely still, not making a sound, hoping that the threat will move on without finding them, or they run. Athvor was counting on the latter.
