Day 033: The Escape
The sun began to settle into to horizon. Athvor continued to cook this beast for him and his companions to eat. The night was quiet. There still were no birds singing, no frogs croaking or even crickets chirping. If Athvor wasn’t sure that every corner of the village had not been searched (Eeno had been in and around every building throughout the village) he would have thought that there were still members of the evil army still lurking around waiting for something or someone else to destroy.
“Tell us Nynn… How did you survive the attack on your village?” Eeno was laying close to the fire, absorbing the warmth and enjoying the growing scent of the cooked meat. “I mean, they destroyed everything here. There is nothing left. Every person that I have found has been dismembered or burned to the bone.”
She looked down at the ground, paused a moment before she started to speak. “I was such a coward. There was nothing I could do. I tried to fight them. I even set a couple of them on fire. There was just too many of them. I was knocked around a few times. They scared me. I didn’t know what to do. Finally I just ran. I found a hut that was empty and set it on fire. I just sat there in the midst of the burning building and waited for them to leave. As you can see, I can withstand the fire. I have never found a fire hot enough to burn me. The only problem that I found was that the fire burned my clothes. Once the coast was clear, I had to remove the clothes from one of my dead villagers.” She hung her head in shame. “I want revenge on these creatures. I want to destroy them… destroy them for what they did to my family.”
