Day 049 - Pondering His Wounds

It is funny how some things are just not noticed till they are put right in front of the face. In Croom’s case it was the sky. Lying on his back in the dirt, he was faced with how blue the sky was. The clouds were distant and the smoke from any flames that might have still been burning in the village was not enough to blanket any of the sky. It was rather depressing. Croom was used to things being dreary and grey. At least the birds were still not singing. In fact there weren’t any noises in the area at all except the sound of dragon wings flapping.

He waited for several minutes. The shock of having an appendage cut off was still settling in. He knew he was missing an arm. He could feel the blood oozing out of the stub. He knew he should do something about it. He was loosing blood fast and would lose consciousness soon if he didn’t do something about it.

The only problem was that he was perplexed. He was sure that he would defeat this dragon. He knew it. There was not a waver in his belief. It had never failed him before. Either this dragon was outside of his power to make things happen, or the dragon’s will was stronger than his own. He didn’t know which.
