Day 054: Waking up the Passengers
When he did reach the wide expanse of sand that melded with salt water, he turned slightly and eyed his passengers. He moved the air through his throat letting out a deep guttural moan he knew would wake them. He needed them awake to land. The last thing he wanted was to jerk sharply when his feet hit the ground sending them flying through the sky.
Nynn and Eeno stirred. Eeno jumped, letting out a yelp. He had forgotten where he was. He was not used to being a passenger. He was usually the one doing the flying. There was just no way for him to be able to keep up with Athvor. His body was meant for short distance travel. Athvor could circle the globe in mere days.
He couldn’t even imagine taking on that kind of trip. Flying around the globe seemed exhausting and nearly impossible. There were dragons that did it all the time. There were marathons among the dragons that started on Dragon Isle and ended on Dragon Isle. It was a right of passage for most Mountain Dragons. On their third hatchday, their families would route them on as they took the flight of a lifetime. It was a test of strength, determination and exercising the natural sense of direction that every dragon is blessed with.
