I Finally Finished my Book of Haiku
I started writing this Book of Haiku nearly eight months ago. I thought it would be a great way to free up my time for the year of 2010 so I could spend time editing my novel. My plan was to post one Haiku everyday on my weblog. If my blog could be automated for the entire year, I would be able to spend the time to complete my ambitions to becoming a fiction author.
I finished writing the book of Haiku in October and had most of the book designed before November started. I participated in NaNoWriMo for the month of November. That meant I spent most of my time writing a 50,000 word novel. I didn’t quite make it. I wrote 42,000 words. I am going to try to finish it before the end of the year. When I had 8,000 words to write on November 30th, I decided to set down the novel and finish the book of Haiku.
You can download the entire book for free at Lulu.com. I am following the model I have seen many of the Podcast novelists follow. I will give it to you for FREE. You will read it because it is FREE. Then when you find you really enjoy it, you will want to support me by going back to Lulu.com and purchasing the print edition of the book. I am confident in the book. Even if I don’t sell that many of the print books, I will know people will be able to enjoy my work. If they can’t afford the book, then they will help me spread the word by telling their friends and family about it.
I plan to do a number of things to advertise this book after the new year. This month I am going to focus on setting up the blog so everything will be automated at the start of the year. Today I built the first banner that people can use to help me advertise it. This is what it looks like:
The real size of this banner is 728×90. It is built to go across the top of most webpages. I would love it if you wanted to use it on your webpage. To use it, copy the text in this box and paste it onto your webpage or weblog:
I think the next few banner ads I will make will be sidebar ads. Look for those soon.

If you’re using WordPress (and I believe you are), then automating your future posts is pretty easy. e-Mail me if you need help with that. And I’ll see if I can add your banner somewhere on our Book Sandwich book review site.

Thanks Shawn. I have been using Wordpress for almost 4 years. I have mastered most of it. I may hit you up about some of your favorite plugins though. I have a few to help with SEO and Sifting through Spam. Thats about it though.
Thanks for adding my banner to your site. It is much appreciated. I will return the favor soon. Do you have banners for the sidebars?
