Trying to Come Up with a Name for My Fictoinal World

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I found a website today that generates names for towns and whatnot. Check it out at http://www.mf2fm.com/RaToNaGe/.

Another way to find names for towns and cities is to go to Google Maps and pick a random location. Zoom in ’til you can see numerous city and township names, then pick one that fits your story.

Sometimes I find that fantasy names are perfect for world or township names. In this case try this Fantasy Name Generator.

If you have other ideas on how to choose a city or world name for your writing, please comment on this post.

All I have to do is Write 200 Words Per Day and I Will Have 73,000 words in 365 Days

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I’m going to keep this simple.

If I write 200 words per day every day of the year, I will have 73,000 words in one year. That is a decent size novel. I figure I will most likely write more than 200 words per day. So I should be able to write close to 100,000 words within the next year.

If I write 200 words everyday for 10 years I will have written 730,000 words. This will be awesome.

Now I just have to find a way to keep myself focused and actually write 200 words per day.

How to Start Building a Ten Novel Epic That You Will Never Tire of Writing

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

I am going to make this as clear-cut as I can. I am tired of all those how-to guides that ramble on forever. This is just going to be a journal about this epic project that I am getting ready to undertake. I doubt that I will give much information about the storyline, till I find a publisher at least, but I am going to log how I am going about planning and creating this project.

First things first. I need a really good program that will allow me to write all my ideas down in some kind of order. I found yWriter. It is FREE. It is simple to use. It has no spyware or adware and is virus free. Best think about it… I can load it on my thumb drive and it will work on just about any PC with windows.

I needed a basic idea for the story. I can tell you that much. It is very common among novels, especially the Fantasy genre. The basic premise is Boy falls in Love with Girl. The rest of the story is going to revolve around that.

Next I needed some names. I found a Fantasy Name Generator. This is great. I love it.

Finally I am in the midst of coming up with ideas for the books.
