Garden Diary 2010 Episode #012: Window Garden Update

February 26th, 2010

Hey, Look. My Broccoli and Cabbage are up. I always love seeing these plants start growing. A few more weeks and I will be able to transplant them into the ground outside. Then we will see just how good my green thumb really is.

I also took the time to show you the leaf buds on my apple and pear trees. It seems they have made it through the winter. I will have to make sure I fertilize them several times over the summer.

Please take some time and watch the rest of mt Garden Diary Videos at the top of this page. This is episode 12, so that meas there are at least 11 more for you to watch. Thanks again.

Another Winter Storm and Toyota Tries to Save Face

February 24th, 2010

So it is supposed to get colder as the day goes on. It is in the forties right now, but it is supposed to drop to 35 degrees by this afternoon. There is also a possibility of snow. This is so much fun. I have not seen this kind of weather since we moved up here. It is unusual. I love the cool weather. It’s better than the months and months of hot weather we had in South Florida. Lets cross our fingers that we get more snow.

I saw a commercial last night for Toyota. It had a couple stating they had driven Toyotas all their lives and have never had a problem. They said they respected a company that said they were trying to fix the problem with their cars and that their next car was going to be a Toyota. I think Toyota is going to have a very hard time coming back from this. There are so many people who are trying to turn their Toyotas in for new cars. Ford and Chevy are offering cash back for those people who turn in their old Toyotas. By the time everything is over, I think Toyota might be forced into bankruptcy, or at least downsizing their company. It is a sad, sad thing.

How to Make Plarn

February 22nd, 2010

I am always looking for ways to reduce the cost of my garden. If I could keep it for free I would. One of the things I want to do is to contrucrt something for my Cukes, Squash and Zuccini to grow up. After I have the frame built I will run line up and down the frame so those vines will be able to grow up rather than out. If I could use Plarn rather than going out to buy the twine, I would save myself a buck or two. I know, I am cheap.

This video is me showing you how to make plarn.
